Can anyone reccomend a good online seller who can build to my specs, these are general high end workstations in 2U rackmount cases.
Looking at monarch computers website they don't offer the motherboards I need.

take care,
Seth

Try a search on sellers of the key parts you want and ask. My guess is that some of the 2U case vendors will do assembly etc.

Maybe hire some local highschoolers? Probably get a much better product if you have it built by people who build their own rigs for fun.

He may be interested in warranty service provided by the builder, especially for rackmount systems.

HP, IBM or Dell didn't have anything you could use? What features do you need these boxes to have?

Exactly.

He may want them to have workstation-class graphics. I am curious, OP-- why the need for rack-mount? Is space that much at a premium in a classroom or work environment? You realize that 2U units still take up a fair amount of space, right? And if you pack a lot of them into a closet, you will need to take HVAC into account. You will then be on your way to building a server closet or mini homegrown data center when you could have just put a computer under/on each desk, like in a normal office. Replacements will be harder to do (and harder to cover with a warranty), probably more expensive, etc. etc. etc.

Um i would guess it's because he has a rack cabinet to put them in.
