I need an Intel socket 775 Motherboard that supports DDR1 and an PCI-E x16 slot. I plan on getting an E6300 for it later.

I was looking at the Asus P5GD1 motherboard (can get it really cheap off a friend) but the ASUS website doesn't say it supports dual core CPUs.

So will any 775 motherboard work with a core 2 duo or does it have to explicitly state it?

And any suggestions for mobo are appreciated.

No - not all LGA775 motherboards support C2D - you need to check the manufacturer's website - they usually have an area that provides the CPU support list for each motherboard.

Checked the Asus site - looks like that board only support single core processors.
