I need a test lab to test out new software before we migrate software at work, such as the migration from exchange 5.5 to 2000. I decided i would like 4 comps, 3 servers and one workstation. They should be desktop cases.. Enlight 7200 looks good.. so I can stack them. I am also trying to decide whether km133 is stable enough so I'm not crashing all the time, or if I should go with kt133 (or maybe A's although they are more expensive). Also need 650+ Mhz durons, 4 HD's, (2-3 gig is enough, but you can get 15 gigs for the same price), NIC's and maybe video if I don't go KM133. Any suggestions on ANY of the parts would be great.
Thanks.

Also where should I buy? MWAVE?

I might suggest you use the HCL from microsoft to insure your primary purpose is satisfied. You can be sure that what is on that list will crack code fine. Mine do.😉

I know that the KT133 chipset works with win2k server, I have one running right now. I'm just curious aobut brands of mobo's, good deals, KM133 experience, that kind fo stuff.

I'm in complete agreement with Tripleshot - that HCL is very important - we didn't check it with some of the stuff at my work, and alot of stuff didn't work when tested. :|

As I understand it the KM133s uses the same chipset as the KT133s. Anand's done a review a few weeks ago.
It just adds the vga adaptor. Whether this is good enough for a server, especially an exchange server is a decision you'll have to take 😉

I found this site selling m/boards cheaply in the UK (where I live).
http://www.ebuyer.com
KM133 board for £52.80
Dual socket370 board for £56.40
Makes for a great cheap boards for crack racks at least. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
The US will have the same available for less I suspect

I'd go with the KT133a. Essentially the KT133a is unchanged from the KT133. The only difference in that the A version is a little more stable because you can run 133fsb processors on it. However, in your case you'll be running durons that are 100fsb only. And if you're using these systems for application testing I doubt you'll want to do any overclocking as that might kill stability😀 If you're one for speed don't go with the km133 as the onboard video eats memory bandwidth that would otherwise feed the rest of your system. Not to mention the fact that savage based video cards in general just plain suck. And if you're going for the KT133/A then get some ASUS boards. Rock solid, you can't beat em.
