Hi all. Well I need some advice. I am no expert but I have built 10 or 12 systems without a hitch. I just purchased a Aopen AX4C Max mobo to go w\ a P4 3.2 some 512 sticks of Hyper X RAm, 120 Gig Sata Maxtor etc. I cannot get the mobo to post & I have tryed everything. I have tryed different RAM, different video card, took my 2.5 chip out of my other system & no go. I tryed my 2.5 & it's RAM in the new mobo w\ no luck. I am getting no signal from the video card as the monitor light stays amber, no post up beep or anything.

I have tryed 2 different PS's, HD's, checked any jumper settings which I thought may be throwing it off and nothing. I have taken the Mobo out of the case and set it on the bench to see if it may be a shorting problem and that wasnt it. The logical conclusion I come up with is the Mobo has to be defective. I know a defective mobo is possible but the first time Ive ran into it, if that indeed is the case, but I thought I'd get other opinions to make sure I havent overlooked something. Im at a loss if it isnt the mobo???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I pack this thing up & send it back tomorrow to get another brd or a refund.

ps- I know Aopen brds may not be the most popular out there but it's packed full of features for the price. I usely go MSI, my 2.5 is sitting on a Gigabyte 8inxp, for 80 bucks I thought the Ax4c max w\ the 875 chipset was worth a shot over a MSI 865 for the same price.

Hmm, maybe the board does not support Prescotts? I'd put it outside the case on cardboard, with the 2.53 and its known-working RAM, make sure I'm putting the RAM in the correct slots (manual will tell which), unplug it, take the CMOS battery out, clear CMOS, put battery in, plug it in and try it that way. If it was simply  at having a Prescott in it, that may get it to POST.

Yep, the atx 12 was plugged in. I also put the brd on a rubber mat on the table, cleared the cmos with the 2.53 in it as well as the 3.2, no post. The manual states supporting 3.06 + chips but it wont post w\ the 2.53 either.

Intel's motherboard selector lists compatible processors for that Aopen board as 2.40C-3.40 Ghz and also the 533mhz front serial bus chips. The 2.40C is 800mhz front serial bus based on .13 micron technology, as are the 533mhz ones. The E chips are based on 90nm technology not .13. The chips you are trying to get to work are 90nm and incompatible with the board.
