so i need 2 of these 1 for the office 1 for gaming. and i have some specific wants for them

1) Office - this one can be plain jane, does not need any special features, standard windows comparable keyboard. I'm thinking blues possibly blacks. would like it to not cost a fortune

2) gaming, this one has needs. this keyboard absolutely HAS TO HAVE MULTIMEDIA CONTROL'S, I've gotten way too used them over the years. (volume, play/pause, skip Foreword and back & mute) bonus if it has one for email.
it has to be normally shaped, not some ricer POS, i also cant stand built in wrist rests, i also DO NOT need or want programmable macro keys

i don't care about back-lit keys, i don't care about built in USB ports or audio ports. want MX red switches

2.

I'm pretty sure there is no such keyboard that will meet all of your demands, and you'll have to go for a compromise of features. The closest to what you describe is probably a CM storm quickfire rapid.

Personally I think mechanical switches are mostly hype and I don't bother, but that keyboard should fit your description.

For office a Leopold from elitekeyboards.

Do you absolutely have to have *dedicated* multimedia keys? Autohotkey works well for setting up any combination of keys on any keyboard. I have had my volume/mute/etc keys on (left alt)F9-F12. If you don't frequently need some of the F keys, you could make the multimedia function primary, and retain the ability to input the underlying F key using some modifier.

The Corsair K60 & 90 both have reds and media controls. I quite like both, though not all the keys are mechanical - F-keys, home groups are dome (and not that great domes at that). The K60 looks like more your thing - in both cases, the wrist rest is removable but they are quite ergonomically viable IMO.

Personally, I prefer a decent short-travel dome like the Sidewinder range, especially for gaming, more than any mechanical - even reds, which are probably the least dumb Cherrys to get.

when you say "not that great domes" i cant imagin them being any worse then the ones on the 10$ dell keyboard i have at work + from reading its on F keys and the Ins cluster, the K60 does look like it will work for me
