Need 2.1/2.0 speakers

I have looked around for a nice set of 2.1 or 2.0 speakers to look decent in my living room as I recently got married and my wife wants something that looks nice. I'm getting a Dell 2001FP and need something that will look good with that LCD.

I have my eyes set on the Altec Lansing 5021 and 5020 sets. I like the dual midrange speakers and separate tweeters.

I've had logitech z560s and didnt like the phase plug setup.. and the bass was a bit much for my taste (I always had it all the way down).

Sweet!! Those look GREAT.

I dont turn my games up that loud, but Im sure that has enough bass and enough volume for me.

Those logitech sets have way too much bass and not enough midrange/highs for my taste. I'd rather pay for a balanced sound like Klipsch or a Altec Lansing set.

I dont mind having "all the added wires" a subwoofer adds to a speaker system, so if they had added a subwoofer I wouldnt mind.. BUT I would never use it to anywhere near its full potential anyway.

As long as my ears can hear some bass near the 40hz range I'm happy. I dont need (or want) to feel it! 🙂

I like my Kinyo 5.1 headphones in most games.. save the subs for my hometheater setup (someday when we get out of this apartment).

Those look like the ticket, and I wouldnt doubt if they dont sound superior to even the 2.1 Altec 5021 set.

well.. now i notice how deep they are (6.5"), i will prob go with the altec lansing (they are only 2.5" deep)..

what i get depends on if i get my 2001fp

Havent heard those Altecs specifically but if they are anything like their old mm speakers from a couple years back then Im pretty sure they would sound great, they seem to be getting great reviews too. Im not too fond of Logitech speakers either but you should check out the Logitech Z-3s if you can find them at a good price, I got it for $16 after rebate. FYI I am more into higher end seperates and already have a dedicated stereo system. All I wanted was a decent pair of speakers for my PC and wanted to spend the least amount of money. I was pleasantly suprised at how well the Z-3s sound (with the bass turned all the way down), for the price they they are a steal.

My friend has those speakers, the MX5201.
They're awesome. Crisp highs, tight bass, and the subwoofer goes VERY low for its 6.5" size. I have the Altec Lansing ADA880 now with an 8" subwoofer, and it's not even as powerful on the deep notes(<50Hz) as the MX5201.
But I would get the Swan M200. I just ordered them on Friday and I'm getting them tommorrow 🙂
Wanna buy my ADA880s? 🙂

heh sorry i used to own the ada885s and was not happy with them.

im in between the 2.0 klipsch and 2.1 5021s. once we get everything finished moving in this week i'll order something. i did sign on to klipsch's notification for when they make those speakers available.

i think for $100 the new klipsch look like a great set.
