Need 1366x768 resolution for TV

I have a HDTV which has native resolution of 1366x768. I wanted to play some movies from my laptop through a VGA connection to the TV. The laptop has Intel GMA 950 graphics and I have the latest Intel graphics driver for Vista, but the closest resolution option is 1280x768.

Is there any way that I can get this laptop to output 1366x768 to the TV?

Is there any way to auto detect settings in video options?

The problem is normal resolution for a 720p TV is 1280x720. You Intel video might not have the options like a ATI or Nvidia card does.
You TV should send the right signal to the card for the 1366x768 resolution.

My card works fine with my 37 inch TV in 720p or 1366x768 with the vga connector.

Sending 720p on my Radeon 4350 to our older HDTV (which doesn't send back correct information) works fine, the TV's internal scaler handles things and it looks pretty good. Probably worth a shot for you.

I'm sending 1280x768 to the TV and it looks ok, I was just curious if there was a way to make a custom resolution in the graphics driver. It would be nice to nice to feed the TV at its native resolution... that would avoid any stretching of the image.

1280x720, if available, would avoid the horizontal stretching you get with 1280x768. As for 1366x768, Powerstrip has a custom resolution tool, explained here. I've no clue if it will work with your Intel graphics though.
