Does anyone really think that anything helpful or meaningful can be added to a thread that has been inactive for years (or even decades)? Let me suggest that threads in which the latest post is more than six months old should be closed to further posts but remain viewable.

TERRIBLE suggestion for a tech forum (or any forum really).
 
Disagree. They usually are irrelevant, but at the very least have some nostalgia and/or are mildly amusing. I don't see a need for such drastic measures.
 
Worst idea I've heard in a long time, especially for a tech forum where someone may need to update an old thread with relevant information or new solutions.

If a thread wasn't worth bumping it'll die again. If it lives again instead, then: GREAT. Forums thrive on activity. Would an AOL chat room might be more your style?
