Can we get this in the FAQ or something if something has been finalized?

There is nothing in the current FAQ that talks about it. There is no sticky on the subject although I did find this thread :

The only post showing that it was a legitimate offense to be punished showed up tonight at 10:43PM.

I received an unwarned 'infraction' point for the small number of necro threads that I participated in, which strikes me as a bit odd. I have ZERO other negative history here as far as getting banned and so forth, and follow moderator instruction with no issues. It's been that way for years.

Whether or not something is a violation of the rules is pretty important to know for sure, cause it really sucks to be insta-punished for something that isn't even stated anywhere accessible until after the fact.

That was a funny bump though Arkaign, it made me realize how dumb it is to wait for new technology and how things look so little and unimportant in retrospect/

The problem is, proving someone's intent. Good luck unless you are a mind reader.
It's easy if they bump it with "nef", much harder if they bump it with a comment.

There are legitimate reasons to bump old threads (i.e. the acemcmac thread). It's not necessary to take away the ability to bump old threads just because a couple of people bump old threads for stupid reasons. It's much more sensible to just deal with the people who bump old threads for no good reason. I'm sure most of the mods are capable of figuring out when someone is bumping old threads for the sake of doing it. They're smart like that.

The easiest way to tell that they're doing it for the sake of doing it is when they do it 2, 3, or more times.

🙂 I think this makes sense. All of the threads I bumped weren't just random, either they seemed funny with hindsight of time passing, or they were just interesting.

Presactly. It's very easy to put in place the code to lock all old threads. Then the WNB (wounded necro babies) won't have to pout about it.

And you need to explain why. Right now. Otherwise, quit whining. You didnt pay for membership here and no one told you you'd be getting paid to nef here.

Stop bumping old threads just to bump them. If you have something worthwhile to contribute, please do. Otherwise, expect warnings and vacations for neffing.
