I have a '97 Nissan Altima. I have 150,000 miles and I change the oil on a regular basis. Can I expect to hit 200,000 miles or even go over it? I need at least 1 more year out of this year while I finish college. Also, I do drive a lot. I usually average 60-70 miles a day.

My friend drove his to 300k. The engine was in fairly good condition but it was the 5-speed manual that went. It was probably due to the fact that he couldn't drive worth a sh!t

I work for Gold Bank. We have a courier route that goes from Oklahoma City to Tulsa and back every day. It's a 2003 (bought in late 2002) Altima 3.5 and has 215k miles on it. The actual engine burns no oil, but the valve covers leak a little bit. Other than that, the car is still in superb condition. It's just as fast today as it was brand new too. Nissan's will run forever.

sure it will make it to 200k.

You also have to think about worn suspension bushings, wheel bearings, struts/shocks/worn springs, brake parts, fuel lines/pump/filter, coolant/cooling system etc. Regular oil changes are good for the engine.

If you do all the maintenance ........ I don't see why not.

My high school friends father used to be a corprate courier and he had a 95' Honda Civic......... within 2 years he retired and he had over 500K km (312.5K miles).

Cheers.

yeah eventually it'll be the transmission that blows up or the struts will end up costing more than the car is worth.

OEM replacement Struts will be about $250....

Anyway, I have about 140k on my Sentra and it looks like it will last me another 5yrs/100k.

toyota does however build an excellent car that is reliable and cheap to run.

that doesn't mean it's a totally lovable car though, they're so damn boring for the MOST part. (not Lexus)

Easily.

With those kind of numbers and proper maintenance, your car could see 300k before it dies.

Sure.
I had a mitsu that was at 310K before I took it off the road, or rather, a drunk driver took it off for me.
Also had a mazda van that went up to 250K.

I drive a '04 Nissan Xterra and it only has 5,500 miles on it. I don't drive a lot because I live on the college campus.
