I just installed an NEC Zip 100 drive I bought from Newegg. Upon installing the software into my W2K/Linux box the installation program notifies that it doesn't support NT 5.0. I don't now what I'm missing out on, but the software is "IOMEGAWARE."

Can I download software from Iomega's site for w2k and use it safely?
Without the software it seems to run ok. I don't know what I will get for the additional effort.

Just what is that software for anyway?

the stuff on iomega's website will work fine, iomega just sourced out the making of their internal zip 100s... but make sure you go to via's website and download the zip drive patch if your motherboard has a via chipset ( i can't remember which are effected...), but i had all kinds of problems w/ them and just getting windows to load (wouldn't load unless on a softreset...)

hope that helps

i don't see the zip patch on via's website anymore, maybe they integrated it into the 4in1s, well anyways if you start having probs in win2k that might fix the problem...

sry bout that
