NEC ND-3520A: It is the same price as the 3500A (which is discontinued, i believe) and is a bit better (don't know the exact specs, but tI think DVD-R is 8x instead of 4x...). It is only $65 on newegg.

Maybe in the US it's 3520 but here in Canada it's not:
NEC ND-3500A Beige DVD+/-RW burner Dual Layer Beige UltraATA33, 16x DVD-/+R, 4x DVD-/+RW, 4x DVD+R9, 48x CD-R, 24x CD-RW, 16x DVD-ROM, 48x CD-ROM, no software (OEM)

NEC ND-3500A 16x4x / 16x4x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer (Black) OEM $77

Anyway.. I'll take nd-3500a.

But here, there's a thread that talks about some problems with the ND-3500A... that's what's worrying me right now.

Also, about the XFX 6600 GT AGP8X.... everybody says that this card sucks... however it was very well rated by Anandtech... so why so much hate ...?!

Here's the link to newegg.com for each:

3520A
3500A

Yeah, DVD+RW is up to 8x (as opposed to 4x on the 3500A) and DVD-RW is up to 6x (as opposed to4x on the 3500A). Newegg is also out of the 3500A, which I'm guessing means they have been discontinued...

Okay.. I'll try to find one in Canada (they're rare 3520A).

What about the XFX 6600 GT?!

what about it? It is a great card from a decent company. The card can easily handle all the latest games, albeit at 1024x768 w/ only light AA/AF. In the $200 range, there is no competition. XFX is a good company with a decent record. The only complaints I have ever heard about them is their customer support, but their products are solid.

If I can't wait to buy a cheap 6800 gt, is it a good card (just to tough 2005, cause in 2006 I'll probably change to PCI-E)? I mean, it's better than a 9800 pro and the 9800 pro can handle easily (some games it's tougher) all the game in high-res (my friend has one).

Do you know some shops that ships to Canada (except Directron and Monarch)?
