NEC ND_3520A won't burn at 16x

At first I just thought it was funked media but I checked the drive using my burning software and it's telling me that DVD Speed is 1,2,4x.

I am missing something here ?
 
Firmware is 1.04.

As for the IDE Channel properties, in the advanced tab both drives are set to Ultra DMA Mode 2.
 
Ok I've checked everything I know of and everything seems to be fine except i'm still getting a max speed of 4x

Any thoughts ?
 
Thanks, I update the firmware to 1.F3, but my burning software still reads the drive at 4x.

Anyother suggetions ?

So far I've tried a few dif firmwares and it still reads 1,2,4x speeds.

Could it just be the software ? And if so, is there any software I can use to see the actually speed of the drive ?
