so im nd-3520a is coming in today...
heard about some firmware upgrade that improves performance.
is it worth it and safe to use?...anyone whos using it, please comment on it

other thing...where can i get it? any special install instructions or self-explanatory?

thanks

Great question. Thanks. I just got my 3520a yesterday and it's working well. A lot quieter than my pioneer 8x dvd drive for dvd play back. I only use the dvdrw for data back ups so I haven't thought of the firmware or any upgrades I could do to it yet.

the hacked. im guessing i dont need to update to the official latest one unless im having problems.
But wht is the real deal with the hacked firmware, is what im really asking, wht does it really give me?

bumping this thread... should i or should i not upgrade the firmware to the hacked one at cdfreks.com
someone talk to me 😛

The hacked firmware used to give users with non-DL writers a DL writing ability on some of the NEC burners. But am not sure what it does for the 3520a. I got a 3520a and am curious as to what they offer.

Read the Dee & Liggy modified f/w thread and you'll understand what it does.

If your drive currently does everything you want it to, then maybe you shouldn't bother. However..I updated mine to the one Baked is using, the second I got the 3520a. I am very pleased with the results, and the process was painless.
