I want to buy a NEC nd-3500a for an emachine as a X-mas gift. Will this work or no? I am not sure which emachine they have but it is one of the 3 newer models.

don't see why it wouldn't as long as you got an extra ide slot on your motherboard...

I guess I meant by looking at some pictures of emachines the front of the case looks different to me so I was wondering if it would fit.

Most CD drives are the same size.. that being said, DVD burners are a bit longer, so it'd stick out a little farther in the back than a regular CD-ROM probably would, so if the drive is close to being out of room, maybe not.

As long as there is a free 5" drive bay, yes. Also be sure to update the ASPI layer software on their machine - do it to yours as well if you never have. Download from adaptec.com .
