NEC ND-2510A DVD Burner issue

i recently purchased the NED ND-2510A DVD burner, and it all appeared to go smoothly until i ran a dvd through powerdvd and for some reason just a black screen came up with the audio. i'm thinking maybe it's a driver issue with the burner, but then i thought xp figures that out for me. so if anyone can shed any light on this issue that would be great.
