I saw that the new NEC screens were hitting the market right about now, which, like the Hitachi screens also claim a 16ms response time. Curiously, there doesn't really seem to be much (well, anything, really) online about the new Multisync 60 line.

From the numbers, this looks like it might be the first of those Forceforward driven (FFD) screens that NEC/Mitsubishi's been working on forever. Remember those headlines way back when? (paper)

Can anyone confirm? Anyone have one of these yet? I'm thinking about dropping for a pair of LCD screens, and these look like they might be decent.

BTW, anyone know where to get real response-time numbers? I'm really disappointed with the current numbers given because they don't give any information on the intragray performance. Considering their cost, it'd be nice to get some 3D bar charts for these.

Not sure if these include the FFD circuitry, but they supposedly have a 16 ms response time.

Extremetech has some bar graphs for a presumably 25ms panel. That's the best I can do.

By the way, this thread is not Highly Technical and belongs in a different forum. Please read the forum rules before posting.

Hmm, I suppose the post did come off a little less technical than my original intent. So to rephrase in a slightly more technical light:

  • Are there publically available general resources (forums, publications) for more relevant technical specs for LCD screens? Specifically things like charts for contrast ratio/viewing angle, color characteristics, full-range response times, etc.
  • Are there additional technical documents on FFD displays and existing or upcoming products using them?
  • A more general discussion on FFD technology vs say DCC or other new technologies, with regards not just to technical merit, but to timeline and product deliverables.
