Hello fellow Anandtechers. I've never used a NEC monitor, nor the Mitsubishi CRTs in the NEC cases. How do they compare to the Sony Trinitron-based CRTs? I heard the horizontal lines are gone with the Mitsubishi ones, but I don't notice them when you get use to the monitor so that's not much of a factor. How does the quality of the tubes compare; the brightness, contrast, clarity, sharpness? I'm splurging up to $500 on my 19" flat screen CRT, so help me out and guide me the right way. I notice on the manufacturer's site, there is a $30 that is good up to the end of July, so that is yet another insentive to buy the NEC. Also, the NEC has better refresh rates and higher resolution, but I'm going to be going with 1600x1200 anyways. You can't beat a better refresh rate. I know Sony makes one hell of a monitor, so I won't steer away that easily. 🙂
I'm picking between the NEC MultiSync FP950 and the Sony G420S.
All input and suggestions are welcome!
Thank you!
