This is a GREAT deal.

I have enjoyed this monitor for over 2 years and the overall, as well as picture,
quality is beyond reproach !

I noticed in looking at the site, IF you add the monitor to your cart, and try to "leave" they offer you a $10 DISCOUNT to continue shopping.

The deal keep getting better and better !

A BIGGG "Bump" for this one !

Always my best Wishes,

Mikey In Atlanta

Great monitor here folks. I had one for a year and a half before I picked up a flat panel. It has an A.G. Tube.

NEC MultiSync 19" Flat-Screen CRT Monitor
Brand/Model: NEC MS97FBK

you pay $259.99
mail-in rebate(s) -$120.00

price after rebate(s) $139.99

There is a huge difference on those two monitors.
I got MS97BK from Staples last september

I paid $70.00 + tax
rebates $-120.00

Price after rebates $-40.00
Basically, I got a free monitor and got paid $40.00

I would not have gotten this MS97 if it wasn't for such a great deal.
Compare to my old NEC FE750, the picture quality is a definite down grade.

I'm trying to order and they want to charge me sales tax and I don't know why. If you look in their FAQ section under Customer Service, it says that they collect tax in California, Minnesota and Washington. I'm in Illinois. ??

Does anyone know what the return policy is? They are kind of vague on returns or if you have a problem with it. I don't want to be paying return shipping on this thing if I get a crappy crt.

Damn.. I just don't trust them. After trying to get a "good" 19" CRT a couple of years ago from Dell, I'm leery about places that don't have good return or exchange policies. CRT's are so hit and miss. That's why you can read about someone loving a particular model and another person absolutely hating it. I went through 4 Sony CDP-G420's and wasn't satisfied in the end. All of them had brownish discolorations on a light background in the corner. 1 of them had horrible convergence problems. I was amazed that I had received 4 of the same exact monitor because they all looked different. Some had fuzzier text, one had grayer blacks. That's probably why people can't get good reviews on monitors.

Anyway.. I'm going to have to pass until I find out more information on their return policy tomorrow. If someone has dealt with their customer service, let me know.

I just ordered one and got the $10 discount for trying to leave the site. ;)

I called their CS this morning and they said that they pay for shipping if the item is defective within the first 30 days. After the 30 days is up, you pay shipping one way and they pay the other way. I was happy to see that I wouldn't be stuck paying all the shipping costs if the monitor was defective.

The FP series is better then the FE series but it still gives great NEC picture quality.
Huh? I'm very confused by your statement.

BTW.. How does the PE 990 compare to this monitor? It appears to be less expensive, but has a similar model number with a higher number. Is it a replacement model for the 950?

Don't see any PE 990 ?
Sorry.. I meant FE.

Where you trying to say that the FP is better and then say that the FE still gives good picture quality? It sounds like you said that the FP is better, but isn't quite as good. That's how I'm reading your statement.

The FP is the pro model, FP = Flat Pro and FE = Flat Entry, they probably both come with the same tubes but the pro will have better electronics to keep focus and geometry tighter.

At the price it's a great deal, I've always loved NEC monitors for graphic work.

I have the Multisync FE700 (17 inch) that I got for $179 after $100 MIR at Staples almost 3 years ago. It's great. No pixelation like I see with other cheapo monitors.

Pixelation on a CRT? Do you mean graininess?

I don't even see the FP series for sale anywhere. Is it discontinued as well? All I see is a DP series listed under NEC/Mitsubishi. Same thing?

So, is this a good price for this FE950+? I paid $252 with tax and shipping. Better option than the Samsung 955DF?

Yeah looks like the DP and FP series is the same. There is a NEC FP912SB but it is the same as the DP930 from what I've read.

I just got my monitor. The damn thing is USED! It's not only used, it's abused. It looks worse than a monitor that I've had since '95. I'm on the phone now with NEC trying to get things worked out. The CSR is working on "options" for me.

Update: I called and after a lengthy phone call, they don't have any other monitors available. I guess a supervisor is supposed to contact me within 24 hours to arrange a refund. What a dissapointing experience. I don't even think I'll ever buy another NEC/Mitsu monitor if this is any indication of how they operate.

LOL...Just buy a new one from newegg, NEC probably screwed up and sent you a refurbed unit instead of a new one. It did say new but discontinued so who knows what monkees they have working at there shipping center.

Well.. I thought it was new and according to the CSR, it was supposed to be new. As long as they have this thing picked up and credit me the entire amount, I won't be pissed.

Part of the reason why I took a chance with this place was because they said that they'd pay for return shipping within the first 30 days if there was a problem.

I love Newegg and use them a lot, but if you have a problem with an item, don't you have to pay return shipping? CRT monitors are so dicey, that I won't buy from a place that won't pay for return shipping if I have to do an exchange.

I have an FP950, and it's great. I bought it refurbished at a computer show for $200. It's great. I don't see the FP series for sale anywhere. So FP= Flat Pro and FE= Flat Entry? I didn't know that. Well, I'm gald I was able to buy this monitor. I didn't even know it would turn out to be this good. At 1600X1200, it's max refresh rate is 85hz. Which I think is great since most other monitors I've seen have a max refresh rate of 60hz or lower at 1600X1200. Anyone know of a monitor that has a refresh rate of 85hz at 1600X1200?

Saw a NEC 19" Black CRT at OM today on "clearance" for $199 -- at the Tacoma Mall, WA location
No idea how many they had, but i know they have at least the display model. I think the "suggested price" was $3xx.

Didn't pay close attention to the model number, sorry. Worth a look if you're in the market for one and want to
save another $20 + shipping
