anyone got one?

not many reviews, though i havent really looked

found http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=26171

this guy has bought one to replace a diamond pro monitor...and he absolutlely loves it, so i have high hopes for this monitor.

lots of pics here http://82.108.12.84:10973/

looks fappingly good

please note, this monitor will not be for gaming as such....im getting tired of gaming now and just wanna have a rig to enjoy movies on and such. ive lost alot of interest in games, and im just not prepared now to spend another £400 on video hardware so i can continue to be bored.

also whats the better video tech right now......AVIVO or Purevideo?

Yeah, this is the biggest monitor out there with Opticlear (or that type finish entirely) :D

I'd love to have one in a 23/24" size @ 1920x1200.

If that evers gets released, i'll be all over it, since i love Opticlear :)

yeah i really would like a 24incher but the ones ill likely be able to afford just wont be any good, and i hear way to many sob stories bout the dells and backlight bleeding. this NEC though, despite not being quite as big as i want, is just a really nice looking machine

i need info on AVIVO and PV....

Talking about PV vs. AVIVO is only going to turn this into a flamefest, since the children who post here don't know how to act maturely.

From the little i've read on it, it seems AVIVO seems slightly better overall, with PV being better if you only have a lower end card, since it will still work at the high resolutions like 1080i, etc.
I don't think the difference is big enough to get too worried over myself.

/waits for the idiots to come in & turn this into a flamefest

i found AT's article from back in OCT 05 saying that PV was better than AVIVO scoring 51 over ATI's 38. but im sure theyve done an update somewhere, after numerous driver improvements have moved ATI's game up a great deal, but i just cant find it now.

would have to invest in the NV decoders if i went with Nvidia, and at current i would have to buy a 6200 card, since i cant find any 7300's that are passively cooled.

ahhh i just remembered now, it wasnt AVIVO they were doing, it was the AIW X1900. that ended up being better than the PV.

but ultimately ATI's Decoder is free (for the time being)

AFAIK, this is the latest review review AT did: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2691&p=1

They give the nod to ATI, but i have trouble seeing much difference myself.

Are you actually planning to dump your current high end sytem & get a more basic one :Q?

Edit: I just realized you just mentioned that review above.
I'm not sure where the AVIVO review is...i thought they did one too...

in short yes

i thought about just selling a few parts ie the GPU's the Monitor, the CPU, Audigy and the TV card, but they wouldnt make enough money to replace them with what i have chosen. so im jus selling the whole thing.

ive just lost interest in gaming, so it pointless running SLI just to watch movies and browse the web on a 17in TFT

Most of the reviews I've seen give AVIVO the edge but I don't think its really that big of a difference, IIRC AVIVO is free while PV isn't, but nVidia has the best passively cooled card on the market (7800GT that BFG10K raves about). Really I think its a toss up, but I don't really know that much in the subject.

not going for gaming, i just need something with good 2D and good video processing, and a dual link DVI port

The panel is only available in Europe.

I've Googled several times, and looked at NEC's ditribution list.

Only in UK.

Hmm that thing is like twice the cost of a Sceptre 20.1". Is that coating really that good?

You could get the Dell 24" for that much and imo that would be alot better buy. And the backlighting issue on the 20.1s is a very old issue. I had a 20.1 v3 I think that came out over six months ago and it had zero back lighting issues. I ended up trading it for my HD Projector (Gotta love a 200" screen in widescreen HD) and now I have the Sceptre X20 20.1. And honestly they are both great monitors, both had zero dead pixels, both have no backlighting problems and both look amazing. The Dell had a little better text but cost a bit more as well. I got the Sceptre for $359 after rebate w/ free shipping from Newegg. I just cant see how that coating can be worth almost $400 more. I would definatly choose the Dell 24" over that coating, or at least I am about 99% sure I would.

nah, this monitor is the bomb, with its opticlear coating and adaptive contrast ratio

i dont like the dells bezel or colour, from the dudes pics, i much prefer this NEC to any dell.

It's not the coating thats worth the price
Take some time and read some reviews

I just ordered that monitor! It's supposed to rock. Yeah I coulda got a 24" dell, but I think it's going to be worth it. For contrast ratio the NEC PWNS the 2405FPW, and my SyncMaster 730B has a response time of 8ms and I still notice ghosting, I don't think I could stand the 16ms on the dell 24" (my dad has the 2001FP, it has a 16ms response time and it's just terrible). Also the coating and the fact that my desk is pretty tiny made it almost a no-brainer (yes I considered the dell for a few days). Oh yeah, did I mention that my 7800GT probably wouldn't let me play F.E.A.R. at 1920x1200 with the settings that I like? (AA+AF FTW!!)
