NEC monitor is dark,w98, ATI drivers, help

My NEC XV17 is dark, like a light overcast, a light green background. Now all my graphics, jpgs look over exposed, I must use an application to lighten, gamma correction them :-(
I used to have an All In Wonder Video card. When it was installed, I could brighten the picture with the Control Panel, Display, settings, advanced TAB.

Now that I am using the onboard ATI video, I no longer have that TAB, listed under Color, advanced.

I looked on the face of the monitor, turn up the BRIGHT knob all the way, no help
Its the gamma setting or something.
Any tips?
