Still waiting for reply for NEC contact.. I just emailed him though so hold off a few:p Also asked him to clarify about panels and electronics.

I guess you hate the HP looks too? I mean $400 is a steal for a guaranteed IPS.

Yeah I don't like light colors on monitors I like them black. It would be nice if they made it black then I'd consider it.

Personally I hate using anything from all THE BIG MANUFACTURERS.

Anyhow as I mentiioned if NewEgg is showing the specs on the NEC with 16ms it seems that it's a 04 panel.

And if there is a 05 I'd bet there is a good chance of getting the 04, then having to ship the thing back, because of all places like NewEgg to be listing it with 16ms is a good indication that even if they had it, I might get stuck with a 04 from them too.

Part 1 of reply

No problem. Glad they worked.

1. Yes, NEC does select only the best panels in production. This generally
means higher cost but a much lower chance of dead pixels and such. Dell
and off brands generally buy cheaper panels, B grade sometimes, which have
their issues. As we all know though the electronics have a lot to do with
it which is why dell often times has banding issues with panels that other
companies are using with no issues.

2. I just shot an email over to engineering to find out about the panel
specifics at this moment. I will report back shortly

Regards,

Why you think NEC costs more usually? Pulling numbers out of behind? Or panels and electronics inside.:p Think about it.

Thanks Zebo, oh I believe NEC does use better parts, always have.

But I'd really love to get a faster IPS panel from them which I can use for gaming until I really get the one I want later.

Then if they did come out with the 05 panel, where am I going to find someone that knows, because you talk to places like NewEgg and Zipzoomfly they don't know, so I'd have to find a smaller mom and pop delaer that knows what he has.

I agree silver plasticky face is ugly on HP and that stand looks big enough to hold a house up. Ridiculous.

Anyway, *if* newer 2070's are bing made with 05, I would order NEC from a place with large turnover in stock such as newegg so you can be assured a newer one thus a greater propensity of getting the 05...

But it's not like there is anything wrong with the 04..again it's the electrics driving it.. and I don't think it's faster anyway. LGP, the panel maker, just switched from talking about on/off to grey to grey which accounts for 16ms vs 8ms discrepancy.

Besides arnt you using this as a workstation monitor in just a couple months? There the reponse won't be an issue.

Yes this will be a workstation monitor soon, BUT I'm looking at getting a evga 7600GS AGP for it, and play some older game titles on it that won't do my SLI box any justice, but I like to watch movies on it late at night when the Mrs. is sleeping, so I slap the ole headphones on and kick back and watch them on the box since our TV doesn't have any headphone jacks.

Check out this screenshot, notice the total for NewEgg?

http://img79.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ssik1.jpg

Then look at the calculator in the shot with the amount in it. That is the total with shipping from ZipZoomFly, just shy of $100. Sheesh sometimes the prices at NewEgg aren't that great, one thing for sure is the shipping from them always kills me.

Zipzoomfly is only charging $20.98 for shipping and NewEgg is charging $121.22, both are using Fedex 2 day.

LOL, talk about a BIG difference. I just don't get why NewEgg doesn't offer shipping deals to Hawaii like ZipZoomfly does, hmm

Zebo have you used the NEC 20WMGX2?

I'm possibly thinking that one now along with the 2070NX. I'b beginning to think the 2070NX is a bit costly when just for a little more get a better performer like the 20WMGX2, and then I can really game for alot longer with it, and possibly even enjoy it better then anything bigger.

Of all the forums I've been to (dells, widescreengamingforum, and this one) I've only heard about two people getting a pva 2007wfp, one was a new purchase and the other was a replacement lcd.

I ordered mine early in October and mine is an s-ips panel.
For the features, price, and quality I don't think you can beat the dell 2007wfp. I'm not a dell fan either.
