Hi, went to a local futureshop today and saw this monitor, NEC NEC LCD1765.

it looks pretty cool.
it says 16ms, 400:1 compression ratio, 1280x1024

selling for $530. and a similar looking SONY SDMHS73H, it only has 20ms

when it comes to LCD, does refresh rate matter? most of the LCD only has 60hz(may be a cheap one)

i also want to know what is the response time for a CRT monitor. 16ms faster or slower than a CRT monitor?

one thing i hate about NEC LCD1765 is that it has a glass or plastic on the screen. it causes reflections. when u turn off the monitor, u can even use it as a mirror. anything else to this LCD is perfect except the glass which is very annoying.

With LCDs the refresh rate is 60. This is fine as they don't refresh the same way CRTs do.

The fastest response times right now are 16ms and they are only on 17" LCDs.

Take a look at the Viewsonic VP171B. It also has 16ms response but it has an advertized of contrast ratio of 500:1. It also has a non-glare screen!
