Hi,

A while back my gf's laptop froze, and the only way to turn it off was to remove the battery and unplug the AC adaptor. Now, it just won't power on, no lights, no nothing...Also, for a week or so, the bios clock has been slowing down and telling the wrong time. This led me to suspect that its just a simple CMOS battery problem...The thing is im not as used to troubleshooting laptops, as I do desktop PC's. So is it reasonable to say that it may just need a new CMOS battery? I know my way around desktops quite well, but is it advisable to troubleshoot laptop hardware problems like this one, or would it be more prudent to just send to to an authorized NEC service center (it an old P3-800 Versa laptop thats already out of warranty)...

Can anyone help me on this one?

Thanks much!!
