NEC FE771?

Hi does anyone here know anything about the NEC FE771 monitor? I can get one for 170 including shipping. I can hear my 6 years old gateway VX700 crackling on occasion when it's on so it's a bad sign. I just bought the samsung 997DF and I returned it a few days later since it sucked. I can't find any good reviews of it...I think it may be the FE791 with lower rez capabilities. Here's the info:

http://www.necmitsubishi.com/p...1&Classification=1

The default rez is 1024@85 htz so the refresh is good. My limit is 170 so...I'm pretty limited. Thanks.

Nice monitor...recommended it to a friend who built a new machine. Colors are very good, brightness is very good, text is sharp and it does 1024 x 768 well. For $170, its an excellent monitor. And it's aperture grill, not some invar shadow mask! Dell should have it for a good price.

I myself have been looking for an NEC FE791SB-BK for quirte a while now...I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say it's probably the best 17" CRT money can buy:

-Supports up to 1600x1200 @ 75Hz
-.25mm Aperture Grille dot pitch
-Refresh rates up to 160Hz

I want one sooooo bad. Why on earth did NEC discontinue it? It's an amazing monitor!

Huh? You can still buy them, some vendors have them in stock still. Go to pricegrabber.com or do a google froggle search and you'll get the lowest prices. I don't know why the **** they discontinued that model either...but the FE771 is the same monitor just without the high resoutions. I'd get FE791 but I can't afford another 40 bucks since I also have to get a new video card. I'm not running anything above 1024 anyway.

The main reason I want the higher res support is for higher refresh rates at the resolution I DO run my desktop/games at - usually between 1024x768 - 1280x960. But thanks for the tip...I was having a very hard time finding this one...

I do not recommend refurbed monitors..unless the joint you purchased it from is located nearby. 😉 At least, that's been my experience.
