I've hard that I can install a specific Firmware that enables Dual Layer writing capability on my NEC ND-2500A DVD+/-RW 8x single layer drive, does anyone know about this? And is it possible?

I wouldn't use an unsupported firmware unless I had to. I have a DL drive, but I have yet to be able to justify the cost of a DL disk to do my backups. Eventually the cost will come down, but if you can justify the current cost of using DL disks, then you can probably also justify the cost of buying a real DL burner.

That's a good point....I just bought a DL burner for less than the price of 7 DL disks.

Thanks alot for the link, overclock!
But yeah, I don't think I'll be buying DL discs because of their price.
