hey gang,

going to be building a new box sometime after christmas; first time building from scratch. trying to assemble quality components, starting to look now so i can keep my eyes open for deals.
looking for a good quality cd/dvd rw; something under $75-80 that'll fill my needs until BDR becomes reasonable in price...
have been looking at the NEC 3550A, mostly becasue i've heard really good things about NEC, but haven't found much in the way of detailed reviews...
anyone vouch for it, or recommend something else?

here's the catch: bought a silver aluminum case and (because i'm stupid that way) kinda want a drive w/ a silver bezel to match. i also live in canada, which contricts my choice to some degree...
the only other possibility i've found easily available here is the Pioneer DVR-111DSV, and read a couple of reviews that were middling at best...

any help would be appreciated!

3550A is a good one. Then go to Cdfreaks.com and get the Liggy BIOS flash for it. It will then burn good 8X at 16X and allow bitsetting for +R media (can be important if you are mastering discs for an unknown audience).
