NEC 3550 burning Issues with Nero 7

I am burning data onto some Memorex CD-R's that are blank. I have Nero 7 express with a 3550 NEC burner.

I have tried the ISO way and the DATA CD way and when I get to the burning part it checks the disc and kicks most of them out saying that it Requires a CD-R/RW and that the CD in the drive is a CD-R. However, if I put enough discs in there, it takes one of them.

I know the others are blank, what is going on?

New firmware often includes updates for media compatibility so I'd try that.

I use N6, i gotta silver NEC drive and shi_ always fails, it pisses me off. but I am lucky because I got a CD-RW 48x that has no DVD-ROM support.

firmware, media and burning methods according to variation of burnspeed and how fast data is being retrieved VS buffer technology and loose cables perhaps

check the nero website again or the NEC website
