NEC 3500A... ripping SO SLOW!!!

Well I just got this baby in. Haven't burned with it yet, but I know pretty much how it will perform with the disks that I have at hand. So I tried ripping...

...and it's SUPER SLOW!!

Bleh, must be the MPAA imposed terrorism with the artificial rip lock. My Lite On 811s didn't have this problem. But is there any kind of updated firmware or something that I can use to unlock this baby?

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help!

Any questions about the drive that I can answer I will try, feel free to ask.

Also while we're on the subject, my slot-load Pioneer 105 reader doesn't rip any faster... any old school firmwares that any of you guys know that could do the same for it?

Many thanks!

Rock rock on! Thanks so very much for the link! Just before I read this I flashed with something slightly different, not sure if it was pretty much the same or what, but with the previous and the new one, they're both ripping at the same MUCH BETTER SPEED. But I am very much glad to have one that you personally are familiar with!

Unfortunately it still doesn't rip as fast (or at least seem to) as my Lite-On 811s, but DEFINATELY bearable!

Now I just need to get my Pioneer DVD-105 reader to rip as fast and I'm set!

I didn't know that the drive could be such a big factor. I have a 16x NEC DVD-ROM drive and it maxes out my hard drive when I rip a dvd.

Niiice! What drive? I'm thinking that's what my Lite-On does, but the NEC that I speak of here doesn't.
