Well, considering that the 3500 just came out, I do not think there is enough information to yet determine that, but from all the prelimiary reviews and stuff, it seems to be a good drive. But I am buying a 3500 in the next few weeks. The 4x DL is a big selling point for me.
Thanks guys. I'll probably be picking it up. The 4xDL dosn't really matter to me considering the price of DL media is so high. Sorry budman, sticking with NEC.
i got the 2510a. 4x dl is nice, but i figured by the time dl media was affordable, i could just pick up a new device for cheap that would in general be a lot better.

no prob, just be sure to buy good media because the NEC can be picky about media,i returned a drive because it was too picky for my tastes and as others have said it's not the greatest reader either.
Pioneer burn everything including very cheap media.
I have the 2510a and I say go for the 3500a. It's only a $17 difference in price. This shouldn't be that hard of a decision. With this drive, you should be happy for a long time. If you get the 2510a now, plan on burning DL media in the future at 2.4X which equate to 45min burn time. 4X DL speed is much better. Like I said dude, it's only a $17 difference in price. Get the 3500a.
