NEC 3500A(G) driver issue in Windows XP?

Remedy

Does anyone here know about driver issue with NEC's 3500A(G) burner? This is the first time I've ever heard of a device in XP needing a driver that was already PnP. I know that I'm not the only with this issue as seen in thread.

I tried the drive in Windows 2000 and it works flawlessly. But, in XP, it's non functional becuase of lack of a driver.😕

cdroms do not need drivers in xp. what burning software do you use? Programs like roxio mess up your cdrom configs, see if this works Removing Upper and Lower Filters

Also make sure the drive is on master too, i seen a couple computers with dvd burners on slave and it would take windows forever to boot for some reason.

I second all that. Roxio is evil. So is InCD. I've worked on many machines where jumper settings of Cable Select mess everything up. Set the jumper for however the drive is actually cabled and get rid of everything except Nero burning rom.

It has nothing to do with Software and the bundled software is Not Roxio. It's Nero 6.6. The problem is only on Windows XP and not 2000 or anyother Operating system. So, Roxio can't be the blame as the System came from Gateway without Roxio installed.

The drive was working fine at one point as a jumper configured CS. I set the drive to Master and still exhibit the same issue. I used the drive as a CS and Master in 2000 and the drive works with no problems. Only in Windows XP will the device manager give the exclamation of "No driver was installed or Driver maybe corrupted".

I work on systems problaby about 60 to 80 a day and I've never come across a problem where the NEC isn't accepted because of the lack of a driver.

The OS is XP home with the latest updates. I'm wondering if the previous security update from MS disabled functionality of a CD-ROM. Nero Info tools recognizes the device and the driver, but XP device manager is (!) halting the device, but the device is very plug and play as any other product on the system.

did you try that lower and high filter removal? thats not only for roxio, other software does that too.
