Nec 2510a help

I bought the dvd burner but the wierdest thing is that in windows device manager it says that is a dvd/rw but when i go into my computer it just says cd-rom underneath it not dvd/rw. Also in nero 6 and alcohol 120% i can't use it to burn dvds. I thought i didn't need drivers but maybe I do. anyone know what i am doing wrong.

ok i figured it out but now when i try to make a backup of my dvd it allows says copyright blah blah can't do it. I thought alcohol 120% could make copys of my dvds but i guess i need something else any recommendations.

What kind of DVD are you backing up? If it's a movie, DVDShrink is your friend. You can't just back up most commercial DVDs without decrypting them first. DVDShrink will accomplish this (usually), in addition to shrinking down dual layer movies to single layer DVDs (if that's what you're writing to).
