Promo code: EMC807MERC03

If I'm not mistaken, this is the one that all of the LCD buffs rave about in the LCD thread.

Promo code worked for me... -30usd. Also is a -20usd newegg/paypal code floating around (to bad they can't stack -- unless the said code is for paypal).

This is just about the best of the new generation monitors. Almost every other panel is a TN film panel with hiFRC (to fake the colors specs to 16.7m/8bit). The only other comparable one I know of is the newer dell ultrasharp, though they've been rife with color banding and other issues caused by 'cheap' components, and just generally isn't near as good as this one. If you plan on using photoshop, or watching a lot of videos, this is just about the only acceptable choice for under a grand, unless you can find one of those great S-PVA lcd's that have all been discontinued due to the lower profit margin (like the Samsung 215tw).

Edit: Vista-compatible? All that pretty much means is that it will hook up to a PC... (M$ just wants to reserve that designation for higher-spec lcd's (with todays high spec, low performance lcd's, that means all of them), so that the 'vista experience' won't be flawed)

The 24" dell is a little higher I think, before rebate.

One thing to note is that this -is- a true 8-bit color panel. The 24" Dell is an S-PVA which have some oddities with same color from the center of the screen to the sides.

The only other S-IPS in this range is the Dell 2007WFP, but you have to play the lottery for it.

And a 4GB flash drive? That's like $30 at least, isn't it?
