NEC 1760V/ATI Radeon Resolution problem

Hey all,

I hooked up my brand new LCD1760V to my comp today and I have a problem with the resolution. The manual says the native res. is 1280x1024. However, when I set it to that the monitor stays at 1152x864 and I have to scroll the screen around with the mouse. It won't let me set to an actual 1280x1024 res. I tried using the inf from NECs site but that just named the monitor and didnt really help at all. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

Thanks,
Keith

Try installing the rage3d tweak from rage3d.com. In the advanced display settings, there will be a new tab with custom resolutions that you can enable and disable. Powerstrip may also do the trick. Good luck.

<EDIT: Also, in the "displays" tab, make sure that the correct monitor max. resolution and refresh rate are set. LEAVE THE REFRESH AT 60hz OR YOU RISK DAMAGING YOUR LCD. Ideally you should install the drivers for your monitor.>

I had a similar problem wityh my Radeon 9500 Pro when I upgraded to a flat panel (Samsung 191T on DVI) ... could only get 1280x1024 if I went for non-supported resolutions, but then it insisted on using 75Hz instead of 60 (which, as SickBeast pointed out, is bad for the TFT). Had the latest monitor INF file, and none of the graphics driver settings, included forcing lower DVI refresh or using 3Dtweaker, solved my problem ....

But a re-install of the Catalyst driver and control panel solved the problem immediately. Everything was fine upon reboot once I re-installed the same drivers I was running (Cats 3.5 at the time). Weird, but there you are ... give it a try.
