NEC 16x DVD burner

I recently purchased the NEC dual layer 16x dvd burner from newegg, but when I go to play a dvd, it says that I have to turn my screen resolution down to play the dvd, I shouldn't have to do this should I?, as that would get very annoying when I want to view a movie

What's your screen resolution set to and what software are you using to play your DVD? All I can tell you is that it's not a problem with the drive.

I just let it run in Windows media player, probably shouldn't have done that...my screen is only set to 1280x1024, but even when I turn the resolution all the way down to 800x600 it still won't play, my guess is that the problem is media player
