Allrighty then, Midwest America; MichaelD is here...what'chu gonna do'bout it?

I have moved to the Omaha area. Staying in a cheapass hotel until I can secure a leased house.

From the time I crossed the Kansas-Nebraska border, I passed a big-ass field large enough to land the Death Star on...then I drove thru a podunk town of 410 people...all buildings were single and double-wide trailers.

Lather, rinse, repeat and here I am. :disgust:

In all honesty, Omaha might be nice...I may like my new job and my new digs...when I eventually get to see both. But for now...man, I miss south Texas. :brokenheart:

OH, the people here have that "Northern attitude". Like we were talking about last night in the "North vs. South Girls" thread. :p

Hey now, it's not that bad. I grew up and spent most of my life in Bellevue (suburb of Omaha if you're not familiar enough with the area yet).

Edit: Haven't been there in 4 years... hoping Clemson makes it to the College World Series this summer so I have an excuse to go back :) btw, you should try and catch some games.

I've driven through nebraska and kansas numerous times. Northeastern Nebraska isn't too bad...the rest of both is boring as hell.

Holy cow ! I spent 21 years in Bellevue. Personally I thought Omaha sucked.

I-80 across Nebraska is the absolute worst drive you can ever make. It is flat as a pancake and the road is absolutely straight. No turns anywhere. It is the most boring drive on the planet.

wrong! the drive across I-70 in kansas is worse! the speed limit is only 70mph instead of 75. Also the kansas highway patrol is not very reasonable. I am thinking about going through texas and new mexico on my trip back to utah.

I've made this trip going from Oakland, CA to Halifax, NS, and I thought that stretch of road was rather nice. Peaceful. Very pretty in a minimalist sort of way. On the way back I was stuck in a thunderstorm or hurricane or something...lightning stuck the ground like 50 yards from my car. Whatever it was I don't think we have them in CA, at least not on that scale. Far from boring. :D

Taking I-10 from Los Angeles to Phoenix is fairly boring. Or 1-80 through Nevada.
