I was attempting to be all securiy concious so I generated a 63 character random password for my firewall. The problem that I found was that Netgear doesn't allow for 63 characters in it's password space. Soooo, now I can't log into my firewall. Does anyone know how many characters the netgear fvs318 firewall allos for a password?

Many thanks!

When you set that password, it didn't give you an error saying the PW was too long?

Nope. I think what happened is that I pasted the password into the space and it would only allow for X characters so the password either got cut off at the maximum part (leaving the rest of it "unpasted") or it wrote it all out and then overwrote itself at the end. So I need to know how may characters it can take, so I can paste the right amount of random characters into the password box so I can get back in.

The problem with that is that will cause downtime. Even if this option takes more time, it's worth it ot to have to take the calls/ explain to everyone that "Yes, I know the Network is down"

So if you know what the full-length password is, for example:

"example"

Then paste to try ex, exa, exam, examp, exampl until you get the right password, unless I'm missing something here.
