right now I have 4 of those bays with 1 used and I've only had one used for the past 7 years. What are some interesting things to fill the bays with?

Probably already listed, but didn't want to click on all the links to find out.

1 word: DIGIDOC! (or is that 2 words?)

unless there's something you actually want, why bother imo.
usually people want to control the noise of their fans before they get fan controllers; or want to monitor temps at all times for those LCD's... sorry but seems a bit like buying a spare car just because you've got space in the garage :)

Thank God I don't have an extra space in my garage!

True, but how can you know if you want something that you didn't even know existed?

If you only got things you NEED, life would be oh so boring ;)

I would get one of those sweet Noritake VFDs but I don't have the cash for that. Also, I don't need a fanbus because the only fans I have are 1 silencer on the cpu + one silencer in the psu = silent. hmmm I think I heard of some cool product one time that lets you store cds in a 5 1/4" bay. That would be cool for bringing some cdrs to lan parties. Anyone seen something like this?

shhhh.... I spend far too much cash on compy stuff that I DO want, that being introduced to the concept of seeking out more interesting things that i might end up wanting is just a BAD IDEA :p

PS those Rheobus 3 1/4" fan controllers look rather decent, esp the alu one with blue LED's when you have a alu coolermast case with blue LED... ;)

I wipe my bugers on the back edge of the empty 5.25" bay. Works like a charm. Sometimes I reach back to wipe a buger, and I run into an old crusty one. It simply falls off, and I replace it with the new one. No big deal.

LED, is that head unit in a 5 1/4 bay?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! And what's that under the removable harddrive? Looks kinda like a graphic EQ...

I would be careful about those Nexus 201's. There's a big thread in the cases and cooling forum about horror stories about burnt PC parts b/c of faulty 201's :Q :Q :Q

I have one of them too; really nifty. :D
My secondary system has 2 hard drives in 2 of its 5.25" bays, with adapters - it's got an 80mm fan in front of the two drives to keep them cool.
Can't recommend much else; most of the good things have been posted already.

Digidoc 5......absolutely nothing like it. Gives me eight temp readings, can control eight fans with programable on/off temps. Warning beeps for high temps, fan operation displays, a small fan for an integrated hard drive bracket, a really cool lcd display, back-lited......more. Couldn't live without mine.

I also got one of those cdrom holders that fits in a 5.25 bay....pretty neat.
