Thats really a very well done video in many aspects. Sure the narrator sounds like some comic shop owner and the cameraman is a dimwit, the presenter does a very good job of taking a lot of detailed information and breaking it down for those of us that might not understand whats going on but at the same time doesn't alienate and bore those who actually do. Give it a littler top gear spit shine and it could be an A+ vid :)

The ZR1 is godly :) Hopefully we live to see Chevy make an AWD Vette, that would really be the next level for them.

Idk about AWD... Sure it would make the vehicle more effective in terms of traction, but I think I like where they are headed in the next generation. Lighter with similar power to weight ratio will make the car even more of a hoot to drive...

Nice video. Makes me want it even more. I give it 3 years before it will sell at MSRP or discount.

I can only imagine what 600hp feels like in a rwd car, but im sure every owner would prefer the added traction due to awd. The previous skylines could direct all the power to the rear wheels in their awd systems, so if you wanted rwd to fool around with a simple flip of a switch is all that was needed. It adds extra weight, but imo it would be worth it.

Hehe I know I'd like to see AWD on a Vette. I nearly n00bed myself to death in a '96 Anniversary Vette, and that thing only had ~345hp?

Besides, it might be a reality :

I give it two before it's killed off, then proceeds to be a $200k car on the used market.

Not sure when we'll see AWD, the thought frightens me a bit, managing the HP that beast puts out thru a transfer case and keeping the weight reasonable will be a challenge.

I am looking foreward the 2012 vette, where they are planning on a huge weight savings, and a 4.9L that was discussed earlier here. I'd buy that car to drive year round, even here in Michigan.

Probably, I don't think Chevy sees it as a volume vehicle / regular offering. The market for $100k+ cars is viable but small.

This is a 'prestige' vehicle, and I give GM props for producing it in the first place. It will be a milestone in collector Vettes, like the split-window '63, the '67 L88, etc.

It's still a better buy than a house in the Detroit area now :) I'll stay renting and get one of these as an investment lol

To fit an AWD system in a Vette you would have to have a smaller engine to free up some space up front. The current Vette has all of the underhood area pretty well packed up already.

One of the problems with an AWD system would be the added weight and friction that a system like that adds in relation to CAFE standards. Even with reduced overall weight from a smaller engine might not be enough to overcome the weight and drag of an AWD system that could drop the MPG too low.

Look at the affect that AWD has had on cars like the Evo and STi. They would get much better MPG if they were driven by only 2 wheels. I mean, it's a 2.0L I-4 that can't match the MPG of a Corvette that has triple the displacement.
