nifty. Looks like it hasn't been updated in a while (default postage: 32 cents :)), but hey, it works.

I have been using this for about a year. It works great. I really need to get away from rebates though. In the last year I have done $7,000 in rebates......:(

Someone has just awakened from a 4 year slumber. The program has been around since 2000.

Now we need a program to speed up the MF's ...(manufacturers) to get the rebate checks faster.

BTW, how do you attach images associated with rebates in this program.

The only way I can see is to just copy and paste the url of the image into the 'location purhased' or 'reason rejected' fields, they won't be linkable.

I'm not running that it's probably full of spyware
It's too old of software to have spyware. The first time I downloaded it was 2 years ago and it was outdated then. The company or person who developed it, stopped supporting it, but gave permission for someone else to circulate it. The program works all right, but I always forget to enter my rebates into it. A piece of paper and a pen seem to work better for me. Then again, I'm not a big PDA user, so I'm not one to store a bunch of stuff electronically. Call me old school..

I have received over 100% of my rebates. If I have to threaten legal action, BBB, etc, I sometimes end up getting the rebate 2 or 3 times.......;)

I just recently threatened Microcenter over a $20 KByte rebate, and the store itself sent me the $20. The rebate house itself also resubmitted the rebate, but under a different promotion number, so I ended up getting paid twice. I ended up sending a certified letter to Best Buy's agent for service here in Colorado over a $50 rebate, and they paid me $100 plus a $50 gift card....:)

Take a lesson from Jmman about being persistant. Don't give up!

just wondering, what exactly do you say to these guys? i get the threats of legal action and stuff, but don't they usually tell you that it's the manufacturer's responsiblity and not theirs?

I am in contact with the software developer (Brett J. Burns of Texas) to bring support back and a newer updated version of this software.

Ultimately the retailer is responsible for fulfilling the rebate. If the manufacturer doesn't want to pay, I go right to the store who sold and advertised the product. If you send them a nice little letter to their agent for service in your state threatening imminent action in small claims court, they will cough up the money pretty fast. I have never actually had to sue a retailer to get a rebate.....

i use outlook to store my rebates. basically set an appointment on the day i should receive my rebate (8 or 10wks after the day i mail it) with the contact info, submission/mail date, and shortcuts to the scans.

Yes, the retailer is responsible. And same here with going to court. The only company (if one can call them so) we really had to sue was tiger direct. For fraud and some other charges.
But all the other (real) stores give in after you fax them the filing. I got my ConUSA rebates after being bounced around.
OM is a little more stubborn, but they will pay too in the end.
BTW I ended up using a self written program which uses cuecat (barcodes etc) and my scanner ("making copies") etc.

This is a great program, I've been using it for three years. If you like to be organized like me, you can create a thorough database to keep track of every detail of your rebates that will be indispensable if you should need to follow-up. Here are a few tricks I've developed...

1) Rebate! Rebate! sorts by the "Rebate Name" field. I create folders named the same as the "Rebate Name" for each deal. I keep scans of all the documentation I send in plus pdf's of the original rebate forms, etc. in these folders. When choosing a name for a deal, I abbreviate the vendor, then describe the product. ex: "CUSA-30 PK Fuji CDRs." I always know right where to go to find anything I might need if I have to struggle with a follow-up.

2) If there are multiple rebates associated with a given product, I notate their confirmation numbers in the "Comments" field. Ex: "Confirmation #: 326200710 (w/705102407 & 453458685).

3) I back-up "Rebate.mdb" to my Jump Drive, it is the file that contains the data. I use it to synch-up my PC and laptop.

3) If you go to the "Options" tab, you can change the default postage and turn off the obnoxious start-up "music."

LQQk everybody... SgtZulu posted another thread crap. Isn't he such a valuable member of the AT community?!:disgust:

Although this program has been around for quite some time and has been especially handy for AT users, he didn't actually take the 2 secs to search Google see if it is linked to spyware. REBATE! REBATE! has been posted in this forum quite a number of times and is a very useful piece of Freeware. But SgtFubu made sure we all knew his idiotic opinion of it even though he has never used it nor did he actually do any research on it.

So let's all PM SgtFruitcake just to let him know how much we appreciate his negativity.

So, SgtNumbNutz I would like to say thanks for keeping us ATers in line... Now go Fvck yourself... And keep your comments to yourself b/c you are smelling up AT with your diarrhea of the mouth.

Suggestions for an update of this program.

1) A way to print labels or envelops for all those Rebates. (I usually do a few at a time.)
2) Dual/Triple rebate support for each item.
3) An extra 1/2 page print out to solidify each rebate. This should be an official looking paper reviewing the amount of the rebate and date the rebate is expected by. It would also indicate that the rebate is being "tracked" by the individual and also by the cumulative of all those using the program ("who are serious about receiving the rebates promised them.) And that appropriate action will be taken given any problems. ...Or something like this that will make the center take the rebate with more importance.

(I would pay $5 or $10 bucks for this)

Does this sound lame or would this help? What other updates would you like to see?
