I just got a call from the National Financial Aid Center (whatever the fvck that is). They told me they could lower the interest rate on my consolidated loans (isn't possible as far as I know), and asked for my student ID number. I decided to play along and gave it to the guy since it's not really important information. He said another guy would be calling me in 15 minutes to confirm the shipping address and time for my information packet. Sure enough I get a call in 15 minutes. The guy starts out by saying that my social security number is in their system wrong, and reads off my student ID number to me. He says for them to be able to do anything they need my social security number and not my student ID number. I politely said hell no and hung up.

If Google shows this is common and you're not feeling to lazy you might contact your state's Attorney General's office. AGs love to hunt down and smack the criminables to build up the PR for when they run for Governor.

If I wasn't so damned busy with the beginning of the semester I'd do that.

Wow, way to lead them on and waste their time for about 20 minutes.
