I know I can do it with vinyl dye, but prefer to just pay someone (with someone's else's money of course 😀) to mail me one.
I can't find anyone that sells just the faceplate, but I know they exist bec these guys sell a black version, as do lots of shops in .nl and .de

I just built a system for my niece where the case was silver but the dvd and cd drives were beige. I removed the face plates, cleaned them with Isopropyl alcohol and spray painted with first a primer and then a "High Performance" silver paint from RUST-OLEUM. So far they love it. Make sure the primer is black and when you spray, practice on something like the cat first. 😉
