I wanna get a recument, but dunno which one. A friend is urging me to get an easyracer, but cannondale has an 03 model that I like too. The cannondale has small wheels in the front and back though. Trek made a recumbent too, but I have not heard good things about it.

any advice please ?

A "bent" bike as opposed to a "normal" bike? Does this have some weird sexual connotation I should know about? ;)

Is everything sex with you? Do we all need to chip in some PayPal and get you another Pre-Op hooker so you'll shut up for a while? Sheesh.

I was just out shopping for an exercise bike this past weekend. I tried out several brands and models at several stores. I found I did not like the recumbents. Even though the seating is more comfortable with back support, I didn't like the feel of pedaling "in and out" as opposed to a normal bike and pedaling "up and down". Maybe I would get used to it, maybe I wouldn't. I know that my feet ached almost immediately from tyring to keep my toes in those stupid stirrups on the pedals. On a normal bike, gravity keeps your feet on the pedals for you.

Anyway, I am going with a normal bike. However to answer your question, The model / price I liked the best was one made by Keys Fitness. Model is the Cardio Max 560 U (for upright) and Cardio Max 560 R (for recumbent). They seemed to be the most comfortable and well made for the price range.

Check them out. Hope this helps some.

I have the Cardio Max 560 R (actually purchased the U, but the dumbasses I bought it from delivered the R. They came to switch it out, but switched it with another R :Q , so I kept it). Anyway, it doesn't have alot of bells and whistles, it does have 3 programs and allows you to easily change levels/intensity. The pedaling is smooth, but the seat is a little hard, so my a$$ can get a little sore. But for the price, about $300 (remember I paid for an U), I'm happy.

Just remember any bike purchased at a fitness store (no, not walmart, target, etc.) can be haggled for the best price.

You're right .... not alot of bells and whistles, but it seemed adequate and well made for the price range. Pedaling was VERY smooth and quiet. Changing levels was very easy. Seat seemed comfy enough too, but I only rode each one for a minute or less each. Don't know how they will feel after 30 minutes or so.

Where did you buy yours? Was it a local store or a national chain? We have a chain of stores here in Florida called Play It Again Sports. I don't know if they are anywhere else in the country or not. They deal in new and used sports equipment. These bikes were new ones. Anyway, they are the only stores I found that had the Keys Cardio Max's. The U was $299.99 and the R was $399.99. As I said in my first post, I didn't like the R anyway, and I certainly don't think it's worth the extra $100 just to have a back rest. LOL. Good for you getting the R at the price of a U though! I am seriously considering purchasing the U. I searched online but couldn't find it any cheaper anywhere. I would like to see it in another store and maybe do some haggling and price matching, but haven't seen it anywhere else yet.

As for Stifko, you should try to check out one of these bikes before you make your purchase.

Thanks a lot for the help. The bikes you're talking about sound very interesting.

Man you know I must be tired (bored at work)... I swear I read the subject as "anyone into ruminants" - You know llamas, camels and such. Couldn't wait to see what all the people were posting about in that one!

Anyway, ruminants - I like (used to own a llama), recumbent (bicycles) - I don't, it didn't feel right to me.

Time to go home - Y'all have a good weekend.

I looked @ them for a short time, then went with a traditional mtn bike for only one reason, visibility.

Recumbents are harder to see (lower to the ground) and IMHO more dangerous. I've ridden a lot of bicycles & motorcycles, sharing the roadway with a car is a scary thing & every advantage you can get is very important.

It's hard to see a recumbant in traffic, they're just too low, dangerous.

Those bikes are goofy looking. I don't see what makes them good. You can't stand up for more torque on hills and it looks easy to fall. Lying on my back is not how I want to ride a bike.
