I was about to buy my GF4 Ti4400 in Vancouver BC.. and the retail shop/guy told me not to buy GF4 as it is very unstable (both HW and Driver) ...and Nivida has (or about to) discontinue GF4 ? ....

He suggested me to buy GF3 Ti .. but no the GF4 ..

any of you guys heard anything like this ?.. or he is just ...BS ?

thx

I doubt the GF4 will be discontinued.

What I heard was that at a recent convention, Cebit I think, the President of Nvidia had stated that the GF4 was the last in the line of it's current architecture and the next card would not be GeForce5. The next card will incorporate 3dfx technolgy and will be a completely new product from the ground up.

BS. Probably just trying to get rid of his remaining Geforce 3 Ti stock of video cards.

That guy is full of crap. Nvidia would not release faulty hardware so bad, they would bring it to a point to discontinue it only a couple months after its release.

Also, the Drivers are compatiable with almost ALL of Nvidias Videocards (made in the past 3 years) except the older ones. No way the drivers have problems.

Your hardware store is full of crap, I suggest after this incident, dont' take any advice from them what so ever, and consult your friends in the forum :)

Go with the Ti4400!

How much was that guy trying to sell you the Geforce3 for? I'm pretty sure he's trying to lure you to help clean up his GF3 inventory like everyone said. Go for the Geforce4...I love mine!

Yeah thats crap. The only problem that affects GF4's (and all video cards but mostly nVidia ones) is the infinite loop bug. I personally get the bug on a GF3 Ti200 with the manufacturer's 27.50 drivers; the 23.12 WHQL ones never give me the problem.
