It took me six hours and multiple useless tech support calls to resolve this issue last night. I am posting this solution as a service to anyone who encounters the same issue. I installed the card, then the drivers. When I went into the hardware manager it said the device was installed but it had a problem, it was marked with a little yellow exclamation point. I clicked the button at the bottom to show me the problem, and it said there was some kind of error or something to do with NDIS.VXD, NTKERN.VXD. I called tech support for the card and told the guy the problem. When I mentioned the NTKERN error, he got all panicky, told me he really couldn't help me, and told me there was a serious problem with my OS (ME) and the only solution would be to format my hard drive and reinstall my operating system. Being in no real hurry to do that, I called another tech support line (for my router). They listened to my problem and consulted with their experts, and after half an hour, told me exactly the same thing, very apologetically.
To make a long story short, here is the problem and the solution. The instructions clearly state to install the drivers first, then the card, then let it install. I never read those things, so I had installed the card first. I had to take out my card, find a system restore point, and take my system back to it. I then booted up, installed the drivers, shut down, installed the card, and let the install process finish. It worked perfectly and now my card is working fine. So, I really hope anybody having this problem finds this, because I would have given anything for it last night!
