ND filter with great colors?!

i got cheap Zomei and Polaroid variable ND filters. the colors look terrible though.
is there a good variable ND filter for 58mm size that just lowers the brightness of the sun and does not affect colors in any way?

I've heard good things about the Tiffen 58mm Neutral Density 0.9 Filter.
And its kinda cheap too, it comes around $20 or so i suppose.
do look it up.
