even without the official ruling on OSU as a whole they shitcanned alot of their season with the suspensions. and of course some of them just left instead.

they wouldnt dare suspend newton. the key is apparantly for your parents to get lots of $$ and 'not tell you about it' and try to keep it between you and a booster so the school 'doesnt know about it'
 
bowls are actually a little older than the NCAA. the NCAA was formed as a rules committee to respond to teddy roosevelt's call for less injury in college football (which eventually led to such things as the forward pass. that's right, football as we know it is a result of government interference and pussying up the game). the bowls were well established by the time the national association of college basketball coaches asked the NCAA to take over the tourney. going by wikipedia, there wasn't an NCAA football title in anything until the 70s.
