1) Although there were few upsets, it seemed to me that the major underdogs were in the games longer than they were in previous years. Eastern Kentucky was down only 5 to Kentucky late in the second half. UT-Chattonooga actually let Wake Forest at halftime. Winthrop went toe to toe with Gonzaga for almost the entire game. Montana only lost by 11 to Washington after being down big early. Fairleigh Dickinson was down only 1 to Illinois at halftime. Utah State led Arizona at halftime. And of course, UW-Milwaukee pretty much beat Alabama for the entire game. Look out, high majors! These low to mid major conference champions are not as bad as you think. No team can risk looking ahead in this tournament.
2) WVU/Creighton was the only game that came down to the last shot. IMO, that was the best game of the tournament so far. I expect tomorrow to hold less to script!
3) I HATE the idea of a play-in game for the 64th and 65th ranked teams. They are usually played by the low-major conference champions. This is terribly unfair to those conference champions. You win your conference tournament, you should be in the field of 64, no questions asked. If they want 65 teams, let the two last at-large bids play in the play-in game. Let the last two teams who didn't earn a bid on the court play it.
