The bowl system is complete shit. Every game is a blowout, and not really worth watching.

the bowl was created as a bonus game, for good teams at the end of the season. there are historic ties with the bowl. ie rose bowl wants to match the best Pac 10 and best Big 10 team together. SWC teams want to play in the Cotton Bowl. etc

the bowl sponsor gets money, as well as the participating teams

unfortunately, greedy people want to make more money so they make bogus bowls that will invite even the shittiest teams to play... teams that win as many game as they lose (6w-6l). that is why nobody watch these bowls that start in mid december...except parents of players

I would like to see the college senior all-stars play the Super Bowl winner like they used to do way back in the day. That hasn't been done for probably 40 years, but that would be a fun game to watch.

cause this isn't Highlander...

Hell, we are lucky to get an undisputed champion each year. As much as I dislike USC, I would like to see them split the championship just to throw more fuel on the fire for some kind of playoff

Yeh, and like a an all star college athlete is going to risk blowing out a knee or other serious injury and possibly give up millions playing an otherwise meaningless game.

It would be a bloodbath. Even a crappy NFL team would give the best coached college team hell.

Say the Pats win the SB this season - you wouldn't want to see the nation's best senior players, the players going into the draft, playing the best team in the league? It would help gauge how good these players are against the best the pros have to offer. It would (possibly) help in contracts for rookies as well - you play good in this game, and it shows you are ready, worth more than someone that plays particularly bad, but because maybe they are the Heisman winner, or the QB of National Championship team, they think they deserve a huge contract without ever playing a pro game?

Football isn't a drag and drop sport where you can just cherry pick athletes, assemble a team, and then expect them to play well together.

I repeat, taking a bunch of 20-22 year old kids - no matter how good they did at their college positions, and matching them up to the best team in the NFL is just asking for a beatdown of epic proportions.

No one would gain anything of it.

Few things have become more annoying imo than listening to everyone b!tch about how screwed up the bcs and bowl systems are each time there is a blowout or a 'snub'.

you mean picking players who are stars but have never played together? Then give them a couple weeks to assemble a game plan (with coaches they've never met) vs a team that won the SB, knows every player on the team and has been running the same system since training camp? Sounds like a recipe for success to me.

Didnt you get the memo?
If you win by more than 3 points its considered a blowout... unless you are an SEC team then its a blowout if you win by more than 1 point...

The best NFL team which gets to play 19 games together vs college kids who have never played together? How is that possibly a good game?

1) a handful of the NCAA players would suffer injury, more than likely. Not good if you're looking to get signed.

2) the Pats have nothing to gain from it unless the team was offered some insane incentives

3) if the Pats coach went into this game with the same mindset as a regular NFL game, NE would score on every single possession. Projected final score: 149-7 (NCAA would score a garbage touchdown in the 4th quarter when NE got bored and began playing 6 players on defense)

4) yes, I'd watch it :D

EDIT -- actually, I think the final score would be more like 190-7. NE would score every time they touched the ball, and their defense would force nothing but 3-and-outs (including lots of interceptions/forced fumbles).

Bowl games are a big reason I dont watch NCAA football, that and I didn't goto a college who cared about football. Too many teams, Too many "championship games", me with no allegiances. Yeah, there's only 4 major ones, but its like even crap teams get the honor to play in one. Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

it would not be fun to watch because nobody would want to play

thats why NFL all-star games are so boring (whereas nba and nhl are slightly more exciting)

There have been 29 bowls played so far, looks like you missed the first 5.

The Poinsettia bowl was 35-32
Las Vegas 17-16

In total that's 17 of 29.
