Really? I find it hard to believe the ratings are worse than CBS with the Nagano Olympics. To be fair, it has only been a few days and track&field and other sports haven't started yet.

I read in my local paper today that since the US womens Gymnastics team came in 4th (in the team competition) NBC should expect to get even lower ratings.

Their programming schedule seems a little whacked. Olympic events are going on all day in Sydney, but NBC coverage is during only primetime and into 2am. The Olympics occur only every 4 years, shouldn't they try to milk this occasion as much as they can?? I remember past olympics received much more coverage than they have this time around... maybe I'm imagining things. Maybe not.

Wasn't Nagano Japan the Winter Olympics...can't remember.
Anyways, if it was Winter, I'm not suprised because I think
Summer Olympics are more popular than Winter.

CBC's coverage is nice. CBC French (Radio-Canada) sometimes shows different events than its English counterpart. Cool. More events to watch.

Dennil, there is also TSN in both English in French as well covering
pretty much anything CBC isn't picking up.

I was living in Europe during the 1996 Barcelona (sp) Olympics and coverage was awesome (Eurosport). There is daytime coverage on CNBC and MSNBC. They should have done a better job of explaining that because I only just found out about that and got to see some of the events during the day.

With Internet access for a great many homes, people are are not real likely to watch an event where they knew the results 12 hours earlier.

Its b/c none of it is live. And its all voice-overed and hokey. They are stupid and arrogant (Ebersol's lasting influence) and they deserve the crappy ratings.

I put the vast majority of the blame on the time differential and NBCs coverage of Sob stories instead of the events, all five of them.
